Description
Just as we appear alive, our death can appear, and “Voilá!”.
Life is an experience that in any moment can be dissolve, into the impossibility of being the individual that one was. Meanwhile, no subject will be born and grow with the same conscience and heart (real and symbolic) in all eternity.
We are condemned to the death of our singularity… so, in this ocean of uniques existences, What do we give our time and presence to? What do we really wish with all our soul? What style and intensity will be given to the wave of our existence that then will cease?
I took the “Voilá!” concept as the profound impact of anguish when one has awareness of one’s own death, and if we take charge of that deep Voilá experience, we are in front of one of the most transcendental roots of life and creativity, to build our own philosophy, empowerment and an authentic way to live.
As the philosopher George Steiner wrote in his book “Heidegger”:
“Being-relatively-to-death is, in its essence, anguish, and those who deprive us of this anguish -be they priests, doctors, mystics or rationalist charlatans- transforming it into fear or worldly indifference, alienate us from life itself. Or, to be exact, they separate us from a fundamental source of freedom.”
