It is useless to feign a modesty one does not possess-we are all highly successful people, we have launched careers studded with accomplishments, we live in dream homes, we take incredible vacations to beautiful places.
On closer inspection, sometimes–certainly only a few very rare times–there were difficulties, something didn’t go right, trivial details perhaps, trifles…. In short, let’s tell it like it is: we did FLOP!
Yet we always remain successful people because, as Sir Winston Churchill said:
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another without losing enthusiasm.
And we have certainly not lost our enthusiasm, this year we have only lost a few months from the usual schedule of the Illustration Competition, but now we are ready with the 21st edition, more excited than ever about getting to know and especially see your flops.
Probably of onomatopoeic origin, from the English language, the term flop indicates a fall, a thud, a sudden collapse and, figuratively speaking, a colossal failure.
There is no more time to waste, FLOP is the theme of the contest, but success is what awaits you, just fill out the entry form and submit (enthusiastically) a single square-format illustration by February 25, 2026 to aspire for the 3,000 euro prize awarded by a jury of top flop experts. Fifty-two illustrations will be selected for the exhibition and published in the catalog; among them, one will win the Popular Prize of 500 euros. For all the details we refer you to the rules, participate in large numbers because the contest-at least that one-we would not like it to be a flop.

“FLOP” is a powerful theme because it challenges the idea of perfection. It encourages artists to transform failure into creativity, showing that even broken moments can lead to new beginnings.
La storia è piena di esempi in cui un iniziale fallimento (“flop”) ha gettato le basi per successi straordinari, sia per capacità di reazione (resilienza), sia attraverso coincidenze fortuite o per la capacità di adattare l’idea originale.
History is full of examples where an initial failure (“flop”) laid the foundation for extraordinary successes, whether through the ability to react (resilience), fortuitous coincidences, or the ability to adapt the original idea.
