I chose to approach the theme from two different angles, taking inspiration from the Latin meaning of “tandem” and the English interpretation of the word.

I started by brainstorming all the ways I could depict two or more figures working with each other to reach a common goal.

I discovered later that it made sense for me to combine this idea with the Latin meaning of tandem; finally, or at last.

“At last,” suggested that there should be a sense of finality to the narrative and the gestures of the figures in the drawing. The phrase “at last!” also reminded me of a cartoonish villain’s monologue before they put their dastardly plot into action. This fed into the idea of a stereotypically evil witch.
