Illustrator
Beppe Giacobbe was born in Milan in 1953. After attending the Brera Academy he flew to New York to attend the School of Visual Arts, but in the 1990s he returned to his hometown, where he still lives and works. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad, receiving several awards and recognitions: among others, the Golden Award from the American illustration magazine 3×3 for the best children’s book published in the USA and the Gold Medal for the book section of Communication Arts. In 2006 he received a special mention from the jury of the Turin Film Festival for the animated short film Roi du Silence, produced together with Francesco di Loreto. He has published books in Italy, France and the United States, including “Il catalogo degli addii” (et al., 2010), “Clang Clang, Beep Beep: Listen to the city” (Simon & Schuster, 2009), “Petit chat noir a peur du soir” (Bayard, Editions, 2011), and “Un cane in viaggio” (Orecchio Acerbo, 2011). He worked for several years with United Airlines illustrating some famous advertising campaigns, and has collaborated with the New York Times and The New Yorker. He taught for 12 years at the Istituto Europeo di Design and has collaborated with the Corriere della Sera since 1989. At the same time, he also dedicates himself to some personal artistic projects, such as the red and black decoration of a Bible found on the streets of Manhattan.
