CIAO

With ‘Ciao’ being an originally Venetian phrase, I chose to study the architecture and style of Venice. I Abstracted the shapes into simple forms which I constructed into typographic glyphs of C-I-A-O. The Letters themselves have evolved from architectural elements with other engineered shapes growing around them. I wanted to evoke M.C. Escher with this composition, the idea of meandering canals and wandering alleyways. The top right shape represents a compass and the navigation of ships into and from the city.
