The inspiration I chose to base my interpretation of the theme on was turning the singular word “FLOP”, into a definition of failure. The idea of my piece includes a symbolic representation of how when people decide they want to be successful at something, they not only invest their time, but also their blood, sweat and tears (hence the title of the piece). I chose to represent this idea in a somewhat negative tone, illustrating a scene where said individual drowns under all of that hard work, but ultimately regaining self-control and overcomes these challenges life throws at us, with a determined glint carved into the eye. The hand breaking from the surface of the mixture of liquids shows the path to recovery from failure, and the scars among the limb show the hardships and inevitable challenges along the way.
