Liberty’s Flop Era
Opera di Luke Jones
Technique:
Hand drawing via Proceate
Description
I drew this because it’s how America feels to me right now. Liberty is still standing, but she’s dark. The torch is up, but it’s not lighting anything. The idea of freedom is there, yet it feels hollow.
The red background is the country on fire. Everything feels overheated, angry, and unstable. The flag still has the colors of hope and what America claims to stand for, but right now it feels dead weight. It’s there, but it’s not doing anything.
Nothing is destroyed in this image. That’s the point. The symbols are still standing, but the spirit behind them feels gone. This is America in its flop era, not ended, just drained and failing to live up to itself.
