Overdrive

At the time of creating this artwork, I was focused on studying the relationship between popular music culture and visual illustration. The theme of this piece reflects the impact of the pervasive, overwhelming visual imagery and symbolic information on audiences today. This effect is especially pronounced in the music industry, where the influence of visual elements is even stronger. The inspiration for this piece came from a live performance by the American band Khruangbin, which I attended in Tokyo in November 2022. During the performance, the background visuals changed constantly, with rainbow-like beams projected from a distant projector, creating a stunning visual effect. This illusory scene sparked the idea for this artwork.
