Un Hommage à Geofroy

This being a French word originating in the sixteenth century, I decided to explore not only the French Renaissance culture of the time, but to discover the influences of that culture on modern-day typeface and typography. I discovered a true pioneer named Geofroy Tory who was an engraver during that time and who published a work called “Champfleury” which proposes a grid-style design of capital letterforms that we use today. And so, Voila! Behold! See the significant contribution of the French to our typefaces used in communication today, and see the process of how letterforms are designed from initial sketches to vectors!
