The Flight

This illustration takes us on a sort of Odyssey in which we follow the bird protagonist in its attempt to take flight and answer the call of adventure. However, as it sometimes happen in real life, things might not go as planned and you might fail or flop… Unforeseen obstacles may be placed in front of us or we just might flop because… well, we just do sometimes. I wanted to use the bird as a symbol for the beauty as well as the fragility of our lives, the bird, like us, is vulnerable to external conditions out of our control, symbolized here by the wind personified and the wheel of destiny symbols surrounding the bird. However there is strength in trying and failing again, over and over, in a sort of Sisyphean cycle. Because we give meaning to our actions, there is beauty and braveness in trying and in failing.
