Pandora

Chaos is defined as both complete disorder and confusion, as well as the formless matter that existed before the creation of the universe, two seemingly contrasting definitions. I immediately thought of the story of Pandora, a supposed tragedy wherein the evils of the world were let loose by unbearable curiosity. And yet I was struck by the beauty of the world that exists by the contrast of tragedy and happiness, death and life, order and confusion. Without chaos, we would have no sadness to compare our happiness to. It was this that inspired me to portray the initial release of chaos onto the world as a beautiful, deadly, and ultimately necessary thing.
