Not on Schindler´s list

After a heart-breaking but inspirational visit to Poland I have decided to illustrate a scene from Shindler´s list. The train is filled with Jews who are being sent to the notorious Auschwitz camp. I have incorporated the clapper both as a visual element but also as a metaphorical element. Stripes can be found on the clapper, the train barrier and the pyjamas worn by the holocaust victims. Conceptually I wanted the clapper to act as the beginning of the scene but also the executory end of the victims in the trains. The clapper acts both as a train barrier but also as a guillotine.
