Le Grand Voilà

My illustration, Le Grand Voilà, symbolizes the moment of the first “voilà” — the Big Bang, the birth of the universe, and creation in its broadest sense. Inspired by Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus, this artwork depicts a modern goddess, dressed in a skirt of Venus shells. This shell represents fertility, creation, and the universe itself, where, just like in a shell, a pearl sometimes forms.

The pearl in the letter “O” of Voilà emphasizes this creative process, where the ordinary can suddenly transform into something extraordinary. The goddess wears pearl earrings as a symbol of fertility and the mystery of creation. The explosive colors and abstract shapes around her suggest a cosmic energy that sets everything in motion. She wears stripes on her clothing, a subtle reference to artists as creators of new worlds.

With this illustration, I aim to celebrate the moment of creation, the first voilà — a moment of beauty, power, and mystery that continues to resonate through art and the universe around us.
