When I saw ’tilt’ I thought of the uncontrollable human brain, and then I thought of ‘controlled’, a project created in procreating but with brush strokes that mimic the texture of oil painting. There are many pictorial allusions to ‘slut-shaming’, where the perpetrators of sexual harassment use their rhetoric to distract from the harm done to women, often under the guise of alcohol, drugs, or ‘victim guilt’. Using this rhetoric and the relationship of responsibility tells others that they are not in control to harm the harassed, and in this causal theory the victim becomes controllable. So there is ‘slut shaming’. Because it is controllable the harm they suffer can be ignored. And my project is to make those harms visible to everyone.
