The opening scene from the Seventh Seal is so tragic and emotive the style of the film always comes back to me. As one of my first looks into non english films when i was a teenager it opens up a huge world of artistic expression that i had never experienced before. The relationship between the Knight and Death is set in this scene showing the loss of faith and desolation that the Knight has returned to. I also wanted to show some of the inspiration that director Ingmar Bergman used in the form of medieval drawings to illustrate the scene .

I am fascinated by this illustration it displays intrigue, mystery and the dark forces of emotion. it truly captures the imagery of the film, brilliant!
