In Senegal and other French-speaking African countries, meals are sometimes eaten as a group. Everyone sits around a large communal rice dish, like cous cous, and eats with their right hand.

I loved this idea of a tight-knit family eating together, enjoying a tender and quiet moment of good food and good company. I also love the idea of the circle, where you can see everyone that you’re eating dinner with. The circle is a symbol of eternity, and I believe that families are tied together forever.
